Hey ya’ll! My name is Asia Thurston. I am a Makeup Artist in Towson, MD. I specialize in Bridal makeup, special occasion makeup, and on-location photoshoots. I relocated to Maryland this past February from North Carolina. I am excited to bring my expertise focusing on “skin is in” to the great state of Maryland. I began my makeup journey in 2008 as a Mary Kay representative. I learned the importance of skincare, how to create a skincare routine, and how to apply foundation. Boy, oh boy, was I scared when I had to apply foundation on other people. I didn’t want anyone to look dead or ghost-like. Thank goodness with practice, I began to understand undertones and how to color match someone correctly. From there, I became VERY interested in makeup, playing in foundation, eyeshadow, and brow products. Next, I enrolled in YouTube University.

Now before you start bashing me about YouTube University, let me tell you…back then, it was the BEST makeup school ever….lol..yeah, right…I failed miserably. Unfortunately, at that time, only one person on YouTube looked like me. This was positive and negative. The positive was that she had a darker complexion, and I could gauge how to apply foundation to people like me. The negative was that I still hadn’t had any practice with other skin complexions. One of my other failed attempts was eyeshadow. When I tried to apply eyeshadow as she did, it did NOT work for me. After a couple of months, I withdrew from YouTube University and began taking classes from well-established Makeup Artists. 

Over the years, my technique, processes, mentors, phone number, and location have changed. Not only have I grown as a person and an entrepreneur, but my business has grown as well. Although I am a part-time Makeup Artist, I treat my business as if it is full-time. One of the things I enjoy is seeing my client’s face when she steps down from the chair. It makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. I enjoy teaching my clients the importance of skin is in and that they can still look like themselves with makeup on. My goal is always to offer timeless beauty with every brushstroke.
